About WASÉ Center

The WASÉ Center (Wisdom in Agriculture, Sustainabliity and Education), a 501c3 Educational non-profit foundation was founded by MarQ Chavez in September 2016 when the C Street house was rented and officially established in June of 2017. The WASÉ Center was created for Wholistic Sustainability Education to offer our local community and worldwide network a space to empower individuals to learn and experience sustainability through education, spirituality, experiential learning, consciousness based education, permaculture, organic agriculture, holistic food systems, ayurveda, indigenous plant medicine, health and wellness, natural building, renewable energy, micro-enterprise, and other homestead/off-grid activities.

Our mission is to educate and serve as an example of sustainable agriculture alternatives and wholistic technologies within our community, bringing awareness of nutritional and health values and benefits while educating and inspiring others: to empower ourselves, develop greater inner peace, and create Wholistic Land Stewardship utilizing spiritual, chemical free, sustainable, regenerative and permaculture principles.

A program for changemakers

Our vision is to create environmental change through the social education and production of local food and food systems, and to help, teach, and empower people to start growing their own food with a healthy and holistic approach. “Food is Medicine” and “Food not Lawns” are our role models. All of our produce is grown with natural methods; no chemical fertilizers, sprays, or pesticides are used.

We aim to demonstrate the viability of sustainable agriculture alternatives in hope of creating future like minded projects involving and benefiting the community: to bring together a network of Sustainable Agricultural stewards and practitioners to create and inspire community fueled projects such as co-ops, community gardens, farmer’s markets, festivals, community kitchens, lawn gardens, compost, free food programs, and more.

Our Micro Enterprise opportunities include Farm/Garden Food Production, Tree Nursery, Sustainable Arts and Crafts, Music, Yoga, Vegan and Super Food Products, Educational and Hands On Workshops and Lectures.  But, it doesn’t end there!  Bring us your ideas and we will help you develop a plan and provide resources to implement and make it a reality.  We also will be working with the Fairfield Artwalk monthly event and our own local Farmers Market to help create financial self-sustainability.

We believe that it is of the highest importance to integrate mind, body, and spirit and are part of a community of innovative and cutting edge knowledge, meditation, Yoga, health, nutritious food, and diversity of cultural and spiritual practices.

We encourage and support the role and importance of being active participants in our society, rather than just being bystanders, and would like to extend an invitation to come out and visit us to discuss volunteering, internship, micro-enterprise, workshops, lectures or a possible on site residence opportunity.
